1 cup samba rice
1/2 cup jaggery
2 tbsp water to melt the jaggery
1/2 cup coconut grated
Roast the samba or any parboiled rice until golden colour. When the rice has cooled, grind it till fine. Melt the jaggery with water on low flame, don't use too much water. Add the coconut then the roasted ground rice and quickly make balls, while the mixture is still warm.
If the mixture is too hot use a wooden spoon to mix and dip hands in cold water each time before making balls. This snack also known as poriblanga is well loved by children and adults.
