Steak pan fried

1 lb beef boneless cut into slices
1/4 tsp chillie powder
1/4 tsp pepper ground
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp cumin ground
1/4 tsp coriander powder
2 tbsp soya sauce
1 tbsp tamarind pulp and 3 tbsp water
1/2 cup onion
2 cups mushroom slices

Pulp the tamarind with very little amount of water. Cut beef into thin slices and marinate with all the spices for about a day.
Heat oil and fry on medium high heat the onion, mushrooms then keep aside.
Add more oil if needed, then add the steak pieces and fry each side for a few minutes then lower the heat cover and cook till the meat is cooked according to taste. Put the onions and mushrooms over the meat and keep it covered for a few minutes before serving.

As tamarind gives these fried steaks a flavour it goes to MLLA #34 at Desi soccer, garnishing event.

  7. my husband is very fond of steak and this is a wonderfully feasible recipe...my only frown is the 1 tbsp tamarind...does it make it even slightly tangy or jus perfectly infused into the other flavours?

  16. Thank you everyone for the lovely comments even though some of you don't eat meat, I was laughing about the expensive restaurants :) very true
Regards to tamarind in the steak it gives flavour and tamarind helps it to marinate. It doesn't give a sharp tangy taste but blends in with the spices. Do give it a try and let me know.
