Lemonade with mint


3 lemons
2 tbsp or more mint
4 to 5 cups of cold water
6 tbsp sugar or more to taste
pinch of salt optional (regular or black salt)

Put the lemons for about 10 to 15 seconds in the microwave which makes it easy to release the juices. Roll the lemon by pressing with the palm then cut into half and squeeze the juice.
Add cold water, sugar and salt if using.
Pound the mint with a mortar and pestle to release flavour then add it to the lemonade. Serve this refreshing drink cold.

    Lemonade with mint is my all-time favourite. It is very famous in India. Apart from being sold in Indian restaurants, it is a part of the Indian street food (drink) too! I am feeling very very thirsty...

    This is exactly what I'm craving for now! It's past midnight and I wanted to have a 7-up/sprite/lemon-mint drink... but since it's past midnight, no grocery stores are open!!     There's a store in Montreal called "Fait Ici" that sells Montreal- and Quebec-made products, and they also happen to serve a minty lemonade just like this. Can't wait to try your recipe :)

    I am growing several kinds of mint in my garden...so far I have peppermint, pineapple mint, strawberry mint and chocolate mint. They are still small but by next year (if they survive the winter) I should have enough to use them for lemonade. Seems like all of them would be good with lemon!
