Making Aromatic Rice in the Rice Cooker

1/2 tbsp ghee
1 1/2 cups basmati rice
2" cinnamon
2 bay leaves
2 cloves
2 cardamom
1/2 tsp salt to taste
1/4 tsp saffron
water

Wash and drain the rice. Heat the ghee in the rice cooker, then add the spices and sauté for a minute. Then add the drained rice and saffron and sauté until transparent. Then add water 1" higher than the rice and cover and cook the rice. Once the rice is cooked fluff and serve hot.

Note: Use a spoon that will not scrape the bottom of the rice cooker.

  10. Simple and useful. I have tried this once but the ghee never heats up enough for the spices to crackle! Maybe I have to give it one more shot!

Thank you for your comment on my blog...have not been able to visit my favorite blogs as often as I like but restarting with yours now!
