Evangeline Downs Hotel located in the heart of Louisiana’s Cajun country has 117 luxury rooms and amenities. When it comes to fine foods Evangeline Downs has the best to offer. The newly opened Spotted Horse Tavern and Dining Parlor is one of them. Offering a fine yet casual dining experience, the Spotted Horse is a restaurant that presents an amusing storyline with its menu selections and signature selection of hot sauces.
According to Ted Bogich, Senior Vice President of Operations for Boyd Gaming, owner and operator of Evangeline Downs, “The Spotted Horse is a dining experience unlike anything else in this region. With modern takes on traditional Louisiana flavors, offered in a beautifully designed and whimsical setting, the Spotted Horse gives customers another great reason to visit Evangeline Downs.”
I think it is neat that the restaurant’s style and decor has been inspired by an urban legend about a “long-necked spotted horse” or a giraffe winning the race by a neck. The stylish flair is reflected across the newly opened space with a tavern on one side and a full-service restaurant on the other.
Dining selections range from Southern staples to innovative new dishes. Small plate starters include chicken and sausage gumbo, chilled lobster salad, and crawfish and corn bisque. The Spotted Horse Dining parlor menu has an impressive entrée selection which includes favorites like fresh Louisiana catfish, Louisiana crab cake dinner, and country-braised ribs. The menu also includes dinner-for-two selections such as Angus Beef tenderloin for two. Guests can top this off with a broad dessert menu which includes something for every sweet tooth such as from the light and cool berries and cream to the rich and decadent warm bread pudding. The tavern menu includes burgers, soups, sandwiches, and classics such as Bay Shrimp Cocktail, Crab Cake, Lobster Mac and Cheese and more.
