During the holidays, I find myself baking and sharing homemade goodies a little more than we usually do during the rest of the year! There's something about the holiday season that inspires me to get creative in the kitchen and bake for my loved ones. So when I heard Becel is helping Canadians #BakewithHeart and Gift with Love this holiday season by offering a single, customizable Becel Anything Goes Cookie Dough recipe that guarantees soft and chewy cookies, I knew I had to get in on the action. I tried this recipe and love the results! It is easy to make and the cookies turn out fabulous, which makes these cookies the perfect homemade gift to give our loved ones.
When I bake, I find using Becel® margarine instead of butter makes the process faster and the goodies taste delicious. It's easy to replace butter with Becel® margarine 1:1 in any of our favourite holiday baking recipes, but the best part is that it is ready to use straight from the fridge! As an added bonus, it's free from artificial preservatives, flavours and colours and is made from a simple blends of plant and seed oils.

With this same recipe we can make multiple varieties of cookies at once by splitting it and adding our favourite mix-ins.
I made two variations; for one half of the recipe I added chocolate chips and for the other, a glazed mixed fruit. For this recipe you will need...
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup Becel® Buttery Taste margarine
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
Combine flour, baking soda and salt in medium bowl; set aside.
Beat Becel® Buttery Taste margarine with sugars in large bowl. Beat in eggs and vanilla until blended. Gradually add in flour mixture; beat just until blended. Split the dough to add in your choice of mix in’s (i.e. chocolate chip, dried fruit, seeds, toffee bits, etc.).
Drop a tablespoon of dough on ungreased baking sheets, 2-in. apart. Becel suggests baking for 7 minutes or until the edges are golden in a preheated 375°F oven (but the baking time may vary according to your oven so watch it closely - for me it took more like 15 to 18 minutes). Cool 2 minutes on wire rack; remove cookies from sheets and cool completely. The cookies will harden when it cools down.
