This delicious sweet dessert or halwa is made with the vegetable, bottle gourd. It is a creamy flavourful dessert that can be served hot after any meal or as a snack.
1/2 tin condensed milk
1/2 cup ghee
1 cup milk
5 chopped cashew nuts
1 tbsp raisins
5 chopped almonds
4 cups grated bottle gourd or lauki
1/4 tsp green food colouring
1 tsp cardamom powder
Heat the ghee in a pan, and add the nuts and raisins and fry till it is golden brown. Add the peeled and grated bottle gourd and sauté for 5 to 6 minutes.
Add the milk and cook till the bottle gourd is soft and mix the food colouring and stir well. Add the sweetened condensed milk and stir until the mixture is thick. Sprinkle the cardamom powder and mix well. Remove from heat and serve hot after five minutes.
